Borders on El Camino in San Mateo has chosen Samaritan House as the recipient of its Donate a Child/Young-Teen Book Drive running through July 20 – August 30. Make a difference in the life of a child and/or young-teen by purchasing and donating a book(s) in English and/or Spanish through Monday, August 30! In-store ONLY at the San Mateo Borders store.

Samaritan House is a private nonprofit organization providing services to help meet the essential daily needs of more than 12,000 low-income people within San Mateo County, California. We provide an interim "safety net" for individuals and families in need while ultimately helping them move toward self sufficiency.

With the help of more than 2,000 volunteers, we provide food, clothing, shelter, health care, worker resources, and counseling services, all free of charge to our clients. Samaritan House is a community-supported organization with over 68% of our operating budget coming from private groups and individuals. Please read more about us, our programs, and success stories.

This summer, children at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center are eating nutritious lunches prepared by the Samaritan House Kitchen. Since 2002, Samaritan House, Second Harvest, and community donors have made the summer lunch program possible.

The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County has received a grant to help Safe Harbor shelter residents. To learn more, click here..

KIDS CLOSET
The KIDS CLOSET needs new clothing for school age children ages newborn through teens. They are accepted at our Administrative Offices at 4031 Pacific Blvd., San Mateo. We especially seek donations of new children’s shoes and new boys’ pants. For more information, call 650 523-0819.
